● Pick up urine cup from the lab (Quest) prior

● Collect a “mid-stream" catch: Let the first little bit of urine go into the toilet, then collect the sample from the middle of the urine stream

● Urine sample can be stored at room temperature up to 2 hours and refrigerated up to 48 hours

● Remember to COLLECT the urine sample FIRST before taking the first dose of antibiotic. If you take the first antibiotic dose, the urine culture will be unreadable and we won't know if the antibiotic is effective.

● At the time of drop off make sure to have insurance card/Medicare Beneficiary #, the patients' name, DOB and billing address
