● Minimize # of medications (less is more)

● Minimize # of over-the-counter drugs (less is more)

● Change twice or three times daily drugs to extended release, once daily

● Make sure meds are all generic & minimize prior auths (as possible)

● Increase prescription refills from 30 days to 90 days

● Simplify insulin regimens (Diabetes patients)

● Stop glipizide to avoid low blood sugars

● Relax diabetes A1c targets from <7 to <8.5

● Relax blood pressure targets to systolic BP <150

● Simplify blood pressure regimens (use generic combo pills like losartan/HCZ)

● Switch drugs if there are side effects

● Mail order or delivery of meds.
