● MediCal doesn’t pay for assisted living or board in care (unless you are approved on the waiver program which has an average 4 year wait time)

● Medi-cal will however pay for these 6 things to help someone remain at home:

● IHSS (in-home care)

● Custodial care at a skilled nursing facility

● Assisted living waiver program with MediCal - 4 years average wait time from time of application. (Yes, it really takes 4 years). They give a list of facilities that participate & they will help pay for the cost once you get a bed.. Mostly board and care that participate in the program not assisted living

● Golden Gate CAOHF Chapter resource pathway - if you are at a skilled nursing facility for at 60 days (after a hospitalization) can help to find alternative pathway

● "Day Program for participants who meet the Medi-Cal CBAS eligibility criteria https://aging.ca.gov/Care_Options/Adult_Day_Services_Programs/

● CBAS Eligibility Determination Tool (CEDT) "

● HCBA Waiver - home modifications & nursing care. Long wait lists of yeras. Apply at the county location, waiver application found here & check waitlist length here: Go to county of the PLWD: https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/ltc/Pages/Home-and-Community-Based-(HCB)-Alternatives-Waiver.aspx
