● Medicare FFS only covers: annual eye exam in diabetics, annual glaucoma testing in high risk (diabetics, fam hx of glaucoma, >50yrs and african american, >65yrs and hispanic), certain tests/treatments for age related macular degeneration, and one pair of glasses after approved cataract surgery with an intraocular lens (1, 2)

● Medi-Cal covers routine eye exams every 2 years (3)

● Medi-Cal also covers glasses for residents of nursing homes, contact lenses if eyeglasses are not possible, low vision testing for individuals with impairment not corrected by glasses/contacts/medicine/surgery, and certain artificial eye services (4)
